The work, developed in partnership with the University of Regensburg, in southern Germany, and also by Peruvian post-doctoral students Edwin Talavera and Soledad Llerena, from USP, in São Carlos, created, for the first time, a computational tool that, using machine learning and data science allows functional interactions between genes to be identified when one of them is inhibited with some type of chemical/medication.
Professor André explains that the research will help the German university to advance the understanding and treatment of cancer, but that the methodology could be applied to understand other gene regulation disorders and their respective treatments. “Currently there is no way of knowing, for example, which genes will be affected when a person takes a medication and this ends up leading to seve Whatsapp Number List ral side effects, and can even lead to some secondary diseases.
